Shananne’s Story

Once upon a time, in the village of Waynesville, there was a young girl who desired to sing, dance, and act.  In the 6th grade her dance dreams came true and she started her dance classes.  She studied ballet, pointe, jazz, and tap at various studios and also studied modern with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II.  In high school she was introduced to the outreach program of Muse Machine, which made it possible for Shananne to attend ballets, operas, musicals and the philharmonic at a discounted price.  This program played a monumental role in shaping Shananne into the artist she is today.  After high school she attended a summer study of dance at Balletmet in Columbus, Ohio.  Still pursuing her dance dreams, she ventured to Akron, Ohio to receive her BA in Dance from The University of Akron.  The summer before graduation, she landed her first “gig” doing outdoor drama in New Philadelphia’s Trumpet in the Land.

Immediately upon graduation, this future princess toured Switzerland with the Christian group "Youth With A Mission" performing ballet, modern, and hip-hop.  Upon arrival back in Akron, Shananne found dance jobs scarce and auditions tough, so she tried her hand as a day-care instructor for one year.  But her fairy godmother was watching over her, and she landed dancing chorus roles in Brigadoon and Oklahoma! at Akron’s Carousel Dinner Theatre.  She traveled to Jupiter, Florida to appear in Brigadoon at the Carousel’s Jupiter Theatre, also. 

Shortly after this, Shananne married her Prince and settled down teaching ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, acro, creative movement, pilates, Zumba, hip-hop, and sacred dance at various studios and YMCA’s through out Cleveland, Akron, and Canton.  She is excited to proclaim she has taught children as young as 18 months up to adults in their 80's. She danced with the company Living Fountain (Canton, Ohio) for one year.  After the birth of her first child, she opened Move and Groove Birthday Parties to fulfill her dream of "being someone else for a day."  With the official certifications in both Zumba and Hip Hop Hustle, Shananne provides quality fitness instruction with a fun dance twist. And residing in Uniontown, she is living happily ever after...singing, dancing and acting.
